Halloween Lesson 2010FIRST LESSON OF 2012: THURSDAY 19TH JAN, 8PM LSR4!

Make sure you get membershiop early so you don't have to wait for your card to be made at the first lesson: You can join LeRoc via the new MSL system here.

Lesons are every Thursday, starting on the 19th January in LSR4 (4th floor of the union building) at 8pm and run throughout the whole of Autumn and Spring terms.

The society is based around the weekly classes on a Thursday evening that run through the autumn and spring terms. Equally split between guys and girls, they're a great way to make new friends and impress your existing ones! No previous knowledge or experience of dancing is required for any lesson. There is no need to come with a partner as you will change partners through the evening.

Our classes take place in the Students’ Union Building and are open to students and non-students. Classes start at 8pm and run until 10:30pm, after which we retire to the Student Union Bar until kicking out time. Generally, the last 30 minutes of the lesson will be a free-style, so you can practise and possibly learn some new moves.

If you enjoy the classes, find out about further opportunities to dance throughout the week. Speak to a member of the committee to find out about other classes in Bristol, the fortnightly dances, the Annual Winter Ball and other social events which are occurring.

Prices – 2011/2012

Annual Membership is £5: you can join at FRESH or at any lesson throughout the year. This entitles you to discounted lessons of £2.50 each.

Non-members are welcome at any time, with lessons costing £4.00 each. More experienced dancers who only want to come to the freestyle are welcome, at the cost of £1.50.

Teachers

We have the best LeRoc teachers in Bristol. One might argue that they are the best in the South West. They are hugely enthusiastic, approachable, great fun and good friends of lots of the society members.

Sarah Price

Sarah

Sarah joined the society back in 2003 as a Fresher who'd never dance Le Roc before. She graduated from the University in 2007 but just couldn't bring herself to leave and continued to be heavily involved in the society, finally qualifying as a teacher in 2009. She is an excellent dancer and loves teaching - do ask her if you have any questions, she's always happy to help and is a great source of dancing knowledge.  Sarah is currently the SW&W Advanced Champion with Matt.

Ask her for a dance - she's a fantastic follow (even if she does throw in extra spins for fun!).

 Matt Kavanagh

matt

Firstly, it should be noted that Matt was awarded the prestigious award of "Most Influential Teacher" at BRITROCK 2010 - a national competition based annually in Brighton, where he also finished 3rd in the Open Category and 2nd in the Double Trouble Category - two amazing achievements but they're not quite as good as the 39 Titles he holds.

Matt is really a fantastic dancer with a superb understanding of the techniques of Le Roc. Matt is pictured here dancing "Double Trouble", for which he is 7x UK Chamption.

  Tim Coleman

tim

Tim is funny, enthusiastic and a favourite of many students. If you catch him for a dance, he will take you on a tour of leans and drops that no other man could perform. He was Intermediate Champion at the Annual South West and Wales LeRoc Challenge in 2008 and he acts as a local DJ at a range of local dance events.

  Kerstin Bommer

k

Kerstin is a beautiful LeRoc dancer - however, she is also competent in a range of other styles of dancing (which I won't name here...I'll let you ask her). Rumour has it that she is also the only woman who can control Tim and is therefore an invaluable member of the University LeRoc teaching team.

Next Lesson

Our weekly lessons resume at 8pm on Thursday 13th October 2011 in the Student's Union and run until the end of term. Come and see us at FRESH for membership and what socials we have up our sleeves!
